EXERCISE IN ISOLATED CUSHIONING / 16 MINUTE DURATION / ERNEST G WELCH GALLERY. ATLANTA, GA / MAY 2015

Exercise in Isolated Cushioning is an improvisational performance that examines the relationship between the artist’s body, disposable object, and the gallery space. During its resting state the hand-sewn bubble-wrap form sits within a taped boundary. Object and body simultaneously transform into a single entity over the duration of the performance. Intermittent periods of movement and rest direct a parallel narrative for artist and viewer, exposing interior and exterior perceptions of space.
